Downtown DeLand Gallery Stroll
New Galleries and New Day of the Month (The Second Thursday Stroll)
Gallery Stroll returns to again bring art after hours to Downtown Deland. Back by popular demand, the DeLand Gallery Stroll is returning with two new participants and a new day of the month. Gallery owners and Museum members met recently to strategize how best to revitalize the Stroll and bring the popular monthly event back to downtown DeLand. The second Thursday of every month, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm, was selected as the new day and time. "By selecting the second Thursday of each month we can maintain consistency throughout the year and still allow for holidays," said Jennifer Coolidge, Executive Director of The DeLand Museum of Art. "We invite the community to come back and enjoy an evening of art after hours and bring new friends along with them."
Joining the reactivated Stroll and bringing the number of regular members to seven are two new galleries. The Florida East Coast Gallery of the National Museum of Women in the Arts representing numerous professional women artists throughout east Central Florida, is a new member. They are located at the DeLand Artisan Inn at 215 S. Woodland Boulevard. Studio 308's Gallery for the Common Man has recently relocated into the downtown area and is now located at 203 N. Woodland Blvd. These new members join The DeLand Museum of Art, Wolfe Gallery, Brenda Star Studio & Art Gallery, Gold Leaf Gallery & Framing and Gallery 142 in producing the monthly event. Denise Fincher, co-owner of Gold Leaf Gallery & Framing stated "We are delighted to have two such different and interesting new members join our group. The more variety we have to offer, the better attendance we all can expect."
Additional special events may be scheduled in conjunction with merchant holiday activities later in the year. For months where no Stroll wide event is played, each participating gallery will have new works on display and may offer special demonstrations or other type promotional activities on their own.
